Surrealism, drinks @ The Figueroa Hotel and music @ the Colburn School

This is the last weekend to check out the Magritte exhibit and contemporary artists influenced by his work. I went last weekend and while I wasn't blown away, it was an enjoyable exhibit.

I checked out a concert at the Colburn School next door to MOCA last Friday. The Calder Quartet played and they were fantastic--the performance hall is also really great. Next, it was off the the Hotel Figueroa for drinks. My new favorite place in downtown LA. This grand dame features gorgeous Spanish tile everywhere. The walk down to the bar is a treat for the eyes with its Moroccan decor and once you get to the bar, there's more. A beautiful cactus garden surrounds the pool. It was a bit chilly to sit out there, so we stayed indoors. Beautiful people, beautiful place but not LA pretentious and unbearable. Go get a drink there! http://figueroahotel.com

And check out the Colburn School's calendar at http://www.colburnschool.edu. For $10 you can see a top notch performance...
